The Feast of Mictlan is a unique large-format artist’s book published in 1991 by Impronta Editores.

It fuses art, archaeology and gastronomy through the collaborative work of the plastic artist Raymundo Sesma, the archaeologist Eduardo Matos Moctezuma and the chef Patricia Quintana.

Physical format: Measures: 38×28 cm.
It has engravings and texts printed in linotype and carborundum techniques.
Peculiar design: All its pages have a central oval-shaped perforation.
Content: Combines visual poetry, essays on the pre-Hispanic worldview of death (with the authority of Matos Moctezuma) and traditional recipes or pre-Hispanic ingredients (by Patricia Quintana).

Limited edition: Very few copies were printed (originally a numbered edition of 99 copies and some Roman numeral, it is considered a rare collector’s item and valued in the art and antiques market.
