The Chain is published in a limited edition of 26 lettered and 99 numbered copies. The text was set in Adobe Jenson MM, and was letterpress printed on Zerkall book paper by Shari DeGraw of Empyrean Press. Gaylor Schanilec carved the four original engravings from maple blocks for the edition. Emmy Ellison bound the sheets and created the boxes at her studio in Lisbon, Iowa. Special thanks to the University of Iowa Printing Services for generating the film used to make the photopolymer printing plates.
