Samarkand and Other Markets I Have Known, published by Rainmaker Editions, was printed at the Red Butte Press, J. Willard Marriott Library, University of Utah by John Balkwill with assistance from Marnie Powers-Torrey and Antonia Nelson. Letterpress printed from photopolymer plates, Samarkand was issued in an edition of 26 lettered copies, 399 numbered copies, and 15 hors de commerce. A Vandercook 15–21 was used to print the text on Johanot paper. The four original color woodcuts, also letterpress printed, are by Robert Kleinschmidt. Binding produced by Daniel Kelm at the Wide Awake Garage, with boards covered in Japanese Kyosei-shi handmade paper, with the exception of the lettered edition, which is covered in suede. Boxes and slipcases produced by Campbell Logan Bindery. Concept, design, typesetting, and direction by Victoria Hindley, creative director, Red Butte Press.
