Script notation (Schriftnotatie), 2019

The script notation project investigates the visual properties of the letters of the alphabet. The letters are organized according to various visual characteristics, which alter their order within the alphabet. The resulting data is combined and used to ultimately create an abstract image for each letter.

The project consists of a box containing 23 notebooks and two prints in which you can follow her successive steps, and two series of 26 prints each on which she embroiders the details of the data by hand.

The books are printed on Sohji 48-gram paper. The color cards (numbers 15 and 16) and the prints (numbers 25 and 26) are printed on Innova Smooth Cotton Natural White 315-gram paper. The box contains 21 notebooks of various sizes, two color cards, and two prints. The color of the box and the notebook covers are based on one of nine color groups: 1. purple-blue, 2. blue, 3. blue-green, 4. green, 5. green-yellow, 6. yellow-gold, 7. pink, 8. rose-red, and 9. rose-purple.
