Assembling: Materialia Lumina Portfolio

$3,500.00

Materialia Lumina (the manifesto, the exhibitions, the catalog, and now the portfolio) is a contemporary æsthetic and philosophical experiment in material literacy, synæsthetic by nature and transgressive by inclination. The question we wish to consider is: as material literacy becomes better understood as a critical tool, how will it affect the future of the book? The works in this portfolio demonstrate how artists may illuminate these future books.

Materialia Lumina is the fourth portfolio project produced as a generous collaborative effort in support of The CODEX Foundation’s publications program. Twenty-eight international artists have contributed their illuminated works to this assembly/exchange portfolio. The enthusiasm and hard work of each has sent a clear message to the Foundation that our dedication to provide an intellectual locus and a supportive, social rendezvous is of value to all involved. The Board of Directors of The CODEX Foundation would like to express our collective thanks to everyone who participated in this experimental venture.
