Published on the occasion of the exhibition: The Art of the Book in California: Five Contemporary Presses at the Iris & B. Gerald Cantor Center for Visual Arts at Stanford University. The works that comprise the exhibition are from Ninja Press, Moving Parts Press, Turkey Press, Foolscap Press, and Editions Koch. In addition to the exhibition checklist and an extensive color plate section, the catalogue contains three contributions by Robert Bringhurst: an erudite essay entitled “What the Ink Sings to the Paper,” a “Chronology of Fine Printing in California” that limns his essay, and a remarkably useful bibliography for further reading.
